I hated Goldberg in 1998, but despite that he got over like crazy. Now, even though his whole gimmick was insanely simply, it'd never been done before.
Of course it's absolutely being re-done with Ryback.
I don't watch Raw or anything, so I can only go off what I read from recaps. Is he getting over? Are the crowds really buying this shit?
With Goldberg, he couldn't back it up in the ring. On fluke occasions a much better wrestler would get something great out of him, but it was rare. As we've seen, Ryback is the same damn thing. Are crowds going to accept that?
What do you guys think? Is he gonna be a future star, or will he get yet another repackaging with another name of a Seagal character?

I think he can be a star...tough timing though since they don't want to take the strap off Punk.
They should have him win the Rumble and crush Big Show at Mania for the WHC.

I'm not sure. Because as we've seen, he can't really back it up in the ring, and I don't think people are going to pay money to see him squash guys like they did Goldberg.

The biggest test will be when he loses his first real match. Not just because of the NXT guys interfering, but an actual loss. That's what killed Goldberg as a reason to watch for me. When the streak was over and he was pinned in the ring, he lost a big part of his aura. Obviously, he was beatable, as everyone eventually will lose. But his whole appeal was he was unstoppable, and when they took that away, he was just another guy. RyBack doesn't show anything that will have appeal once the unstoppable aspect is gone.

Right of the bat I like Ryback better because he doesnt come off like he hates wrestling, Goldberg always did in my opinion. I think if WWE wanted to make Ryback really big, they should pay Goldberg what ever he wants to come in and get destroyed by Ryback.
I think Goldberg looked more like a star, I dont know if it was the entrance or the better limited move set.
Ryback really needs to get a better finishing move. Id prefer a bearhug to that shit he uses right now.
