The only WCW PPV I ever bought. Starrcade 1997. I had the Tale of the Tape poster on my wall that I got from PWI. The Match of the Century it proclaimed, and I didn't argue.
What should have gone down? I always felt they should have had a 20-30 minute knock-down, drag out, blood gushing, no-holds-barred brawl. With Sting REFUSING to die until Hogan died first.
Or should Sting have just demolished him?
I mean, damn. Starrcade 1997 could not have been worse. Could not.

Guest Booker:
I would have had Sting DESTROY Hogan for a good five minutes and then had Hall run down and hit a Razor's Edge on Sting. Hogan pins, but Sting kicks out. Ref sees Hall and kicks him out. Sting gets back into it. Kicks Hogans ass, puts him in the death lock, but Nash runs out and hits the ref from behind, powerbombs Sting and basically stands Hogan up and puts a Death Lock on Sting and tries waking the downed ref.
This brings out Bret Hart was chases off Nash saying nobody else is getting screwed. Sting gets back on even ground with Hogan. Death Drop, Death Lock, Hogan taps.
Gives Sting a strong win, Hogan gets his, Bret gets a strong start in WCW.

Sting chases off the nWo to start the match. Irish Whip, Stinger Splash, Scorpion Deathdrop, Scorpion Deathlock for the tap.
Next night nWo disowns Hogan and they beat the shit out of him and Sting Bret makes the save the three of them take on and eventually end the nWo.

Definitely thought Hall and Nash should have turned on Hogan the next night. But I'd build to a Wargames match were a "Pure" WCW team of Sting/Flair/Luger/Steiner beat the NWO. Then have Hogan come back in the red and yellow and beat Nash at Starcade to put the final nail in the coffin.

Those ideas are so much better than what happened.
There's no champ until the FEBRUARY PPV! Then Sting holds it for a cool 2 months. That's it.
At least we got JJ Dillion coming out and going "Sting! I have a contract here....and you...you're gonna like this. I have a contract here for you to face nWo member, VK Wallstreet!"

Was it that long? Damn man. That is horrible.
VK Wallstreet and all the other jobbers should have been out of the NWO by then. I woulda had Hall and Nash strip it down to a core group (Wolfpac).

Once they did that, Goldberg up and left. I think nWo Elite would have worked, had Goldberg stuck around. And they didn't swear ski masks, causing Hogan to look like the World Heavyweight Champion of Rape.

Oh yeah, that Starcade match was horrible with such a BS ending, it was such an easy match to book yet WCW screwed it up, I guess that shouldn't surprise people. Well here's how I would have booked it.
Sting and Hogan battle it out with Hogan trying every dirty cheating trick but Sting constantly one upping Hogan and being ready for the cheating as he's been watching him for 18 months. There's a ref bump (I know cliche but it serves the story) and Sting gets Hogan in the death lock. The nWo runs down in full force and start beating on Sting and Sting keeps fighting back and won't go down. Just as it looks like the nWo has him a bunch of WCW guys run in for a big brawl with the WCW guys fighting them off, down the ramp. Sting is recovering when Nash (who was absent during the initial nWo run in) come in through the crowd behind Sting. He gives him a low blow and power bombs him which brings out Bret Hart to fight Nash off (which then sets up a fued between Bret and Nash for the next month). Hogan is now up and hits the leg drop on a prone Sting. Ref is conscious, 1...2.. Sting kicks out. Sting makes the comeback, puts Hogan in the death lock and Hogan taps out.
I know Scott said it should have been Sting destroying Hogan and that's it but honestly I think we needed a little suspense there as well as a point where the WCW guys all get the upper hand on the nWo.

Good scenario, definitely needed some NWO run ins to add drama. There were so man NWO screwjobs that it would've really made the fans wonder if Sting wouldn't get the win.
And the Bret Vs Nash feud would be perfect with the whole Clique connection to Michaels.
I'm undecided on what to do with Hogan though. The obvious thing is to have Hall and Nash boot him out and form the Wolfpack, but if you keep Hogan heel you could build toward a big money Bret Vs Hogan match.
